At Top Notch Turf ~ North Queensland Buffalo can be purchased as either a High-Grade NQ Buffalo or a 50/50 Buffalo/Couch mix which is called "Builder's Buffalo" (favorite with the new builders as you get the best qualities of both couch and buffalo in the one product)

Popular right across Nth Qld, North Queensland Buffalo can also be known as Tropical Buffalo or Carpet Grass.

NQ Buffalo has a broad leaf and a dark green colour that remains lush for most of the year, this turf loves the warmer weather and doesn’t mind getting its feet wet over our long and sometimes unforgiving "wet season"

We supply and lay this low-maintenance, easy-to-care-for grass that is pest resistant and requires very little fertiliser to make it look verdant.

Caring for North Queensland Buffalo

When you’re looking for turf that doesn’t require a whole lot of work, North Queensland Buffalo is the perfect variety for tropical and sub-tropical regions.

Combining the best of both Buffalo and Couch, this wide-bladed grass is extremely easy to look after and tolerates poor soil conditions, particularly clay. North Queensland Buffalo is also quite shade-tolerant, requiring only four hours of filtered sunlight a day.
